Nefyn, Gwynedd, United Kingdom
‘Cwrw Llŷn’ which translates to ‘Llŷn Beer’ is a thriving independent brewery in Nefyn. The brewery has been in Nefyn since 2012 and moved to Parc Eithin in 2016. It has a great tap room from where, if you visit during the day, you can watch beer being brewed.

IT ALL STARTED, LIKE SO MANY GREAT THINGS DO, AS A CONVERSATION OVER A GLASS OF THE GOOD STUFF WITH A BUNCH OF CLOSE FRIENDS.
The story of Cwrw Llyn is inspirational and shows the strength of true friendship. Following a visit to a closing down brewery in Conway, the seed was sown. By the end of that evening (after a few beers) 12 friends from diverse backgrounds including cheese production, printing, accountancy, and social work had made the decision to buy the equipment and Cwrw llyn began.
Jo spoke to Ewan, a former stone mason, who described how his hobby become a business. The first batch of beer was brewed in 2011. Ewan can be seen at Cwrw llyn everyday brewing and overseeing the day-to-day operation of the brewery. He works alongside a team of 6 fulltime staff.
Cwrw Llyn beer is now enjoyed all over Wales. The beer is still hand-made in small batches, which ensures its quality and consistency. In the summer months, beer is brewed 4 times a week to meet the demand for casks and kegs. Over the winter, brewing supports bottling of beer for purchase to enjoy back at home.
Ewan’s favourite beer is Mimosa- his keg pale ale. The dog-friendly tap room usually has 3 cask ales available. It is open every day except Sunday. The tap room is enjoyed by locals and holiday makers alike. It has a great atmosphere with outside seating for the summer. Between May and August, local bands and musicians play at Cwrw Llyn. Details are posted on Cwrw Llyn’s social media and promoted by Nefyn Holidays via Facebook.
