Dolgellau, a delightful little market town of stone houses, narrow streets, and hidden alleyways, was once the centre of the woollen trade, and is an excellent base for touring Southern Snowdonia. A shade greener, and less rocky than its northern counterpart, the mountains are just as inspiring, as anyone who has ever climbed Cader Idris - the majestic peak that looms over Dolgellau - or walked the Aran and Arennigs, above Bala, will tell you! There is something here for everyone: sailing and windsurfing on Bala Lake, canoeing; cycling in the Coed y Brenin Forest (the renowned mountain biking centre, where you can hire bikes); visits to the nearby goldmine; walking the numerous well-marked forest trails; taking a trip on the narrow-gauge steam train from the lake at Tal y Llyn; fishing in the Mawddach estuary; visiting Harlech Castle; spending the day at the unique Centre For Alternative Technology; or simply lounging around on one of the many long, sandy beaches that are within easy reach by car. This property is situated on the edge of town, away from it’s hustle and bustle. On the ground floor, the accomm. comprises a lounge/diner/kitchen, with its original slate floor, a TV, and choice of electric or coal fires - some coal and logs provided, more available nearby. The kitchen area is well-equipped with an elec. cooker, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave etc. Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom/toilet/shower. Bed linen, by arrangement, at £3 per bed. Cot and stairgate available. Storage heating £10 p/w. Electricity by meter reading. Parking. Enclosed grounds with patio furniture and barbecue.
