I love the anticipation of the final stretch when driving to the Llŷn peninsula from the A55. As you pass Caernarfon, the three peaks of the Yr Eifl remind me of the entrance to a secret world! For a moderate to steep walk, climb the Yr Eifl peaks. You will see views to Eryri (Snowdonia), the Irish Sea, and one of the best-preserved hillforts in Britain.
Our nearest properties to Yr Eifl are numbers 58 and 71 which have an amazing outlook to Porthdinllaen as well as fresh eggs from happy hens!
We moved to the Llŷn peninsula nearly 14 years ago and Garn Fadryn dominates our view. Sometimes you must simply embrace insomnia! I was delighted to take this photo of Garn Fadryn at sunrise one morning. Garn Fadryn is a steadier climb than Yr Eifl and worth it. You feel like you can see the whole world from the top! Our property number 46 sits at the start of the Garn Fadryn footpath and is a popular holiday home for many returning customers.
There are 110 miles of the Welsh Coastal Path to explore from Caernarfon to Porthmadog. Look out for birds, seals and if you are lucky, dolphins as you follow the pilgrimage routes around rugged cliffs, secluded coves and sandy beaches.
Here are a few polite reminders to help you get the most out of your walks:
- Please wear suitable walking boots which support your ankles.
- Dogs are welcome but should be on a lead if livestock are around.
- Don’t forget to pack water and snacks to enjoy when taking in the views
- Remember sea mist and low clouds can appear quickly so keep an eye on the weather forecast.
But most of all, enjoy exploring and walking the Llŷn peninsula.
