NO.68. BEACH HOUSE, WITH MOORINGS, AT PORTHDINLLAEN (SLEEPS 4-6)
Property Description
3 Bed | (1D) (1D) (2B) | Sleeps 4/6
Situated on the beach at Porthdinllaen which is now owned by the National Trust, the house is built on rocks and stilts overhanging the sea. With its clinker sides, cabin beds and lockers and the sea actually beneath you, Ship Ashore is very aptly named. With breathtaking views and steps down to your own mooring, this is a dream location………but this is no Malibu beach house; so if that is your dream, this property is not for you! However, it is a much loved family holiday home with unpretentious furnishings and quarry-tiled floors (which reduces the problem of sand).
Accommodation comprises of: sitting-room/diner with TV/DVD, stereo and a selection of games; kitchen with gas cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer; shower room with toilet. There are 3 bedrooms- 2 have double beds and the remaining bedroom has single bunks. Duvets and pillows are provided but no linen – please bring your own. Electric oil filled radiators provide the heating and both gas and electricity are included in the price.
Access via the golf course is recommended with parking permitted for 1 car on the headland approx 400 yards from the house. A private Meet And Greet Service is available to transport you/your belongings across the beach. Contact details will be shared upon booking and this service must be pre-arranged.
The balcony could pose a hazard to unsupervised young children, so please come prepared to be vigilant. Dogs are welcome but must be kept off the furnishings. As it is a wooden house, no smoking please. Smoke alarms and fire extinguishers are provided. Unlimited WiFi. Friday changeovers.
Depending on the weather, tides etc, there may be a possibility of hiring it out for Christmas and New Year. Hirers will also need to balance out the enjoyment of its unique location versus the practicalities of booking a beach house in Winter! Please contact us to discuss availability etc as this will not be shown online.
Reviews
We’ve left Ship Ashore this morning. We had a truly wonderful week. The place is truly magical and we all revelled in being able to lose ourselves in the beauty of the view. Swimming and crabbing and walking straight from the back step was just such a treat. We feel privileged to have been able to spend seven days there – it felt like longer (in a good way).

Just back from a perfect few days at Ship Ashore Porthdinllaen!
Weather was glorious and waking up to the sunrise over the sea and seeing the stars when we went to bed from the picture windows was just stunning! It’s a lovely house offering a unique experience of hearing the sea underneath you as you fall asleep. Really didn’t want to leave …
