Standing on rocks above the idyllic little cove of Porth Colmon, this surely must rank amongst the most picturesque settings in the whole of north Wales. This is not only a paradise for children, with plenty of rock pools to explore, but for fishermen, divers and sailors, who can happily while away their day just yards from their front door! For those less active, just imagine an evening spent barbecuing or relaxing with a glass of wine, and listening to the sea lapping on to the rocks and the beach below.

The simple nature of the accommodation is more than made up for by the uniqueness of the location and comprises: lounge, with beautiful antique Welsh dresser, TV with Freesat, and an electric fire; kitchen/dining room with electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher etc.; second sitting room; bathroom/toilet; and one bedroom with (2S).  Upstairs, there is another bathroom/toilet, and 3 further bedrooms.  Duvets provided – no linen or towels.  Several electric convector heaters available – electricity by meter reading at end of stay. A washing machine, tumble drier, and basic hot shower facilities (ideal for getting rid of sand after diving or bathing), are provided in a small outbuilding within the grounds.  Patio furniture and charcoal BBQ provided. Wi-Fi.

Please note that only the main house and outbuilding as seen on the left of the photo are let. Gated parking for cars/kayaks/boats.  Well-behaved, house-trained pets most welcome, by arrangement, at £4 per pet per night, but must not be allowed on the beds or furnishings. Please ensure that you clean the grounds after your dog out of consideration to other guests. Dog fouling will not be tolerated. No smoking.

Peaceful Family Getaway in Porth Colmon 

We spent a wonderfully relaxing week in Porth Colmon at the end of June — just myself, my husband, and our 3-year-old daughter. It was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Porth Colmon is a hidden gem — quiet, unspoiled, and surrounded by natural beauty. We spent most of our days exploring the secluded beaches nearby, which were ideal for letting our daughter run free and for us to simply unwind. The area is also dotted with ancient churches, each with its own unique charm and history, adding a lovely sense of timelessness to the trip.

We enjoyed a couple of lovely meals in nearby Abersoch, especially at The Potted Lobster and Zinc, both of which were fantastic for fresh, well-prepared food and a relaxed atmosphere. Another unexpected highlight was watching the local fishermen come and go — a quiet reminder of the traditional life still thriving along the coast.

And the sunsets… truly out of this world. Each evening, the sky lit up with a breathtaking display of colour, making for the perfect end to each day.

If you’re looking for a peaceful, family-friendly retreat with stunning coastal views, a touch of history, and good food nearby, I’d highly recommend Porth Colmon. Location fantastic
The location of Glan Y Mor is fantastic. The views were remarkable, open countryside to the rear of the cottage, beautiful uninterrupted coastal views to the front, mountains over the bay, and a lovely short 5-minute walk via the coastal path to a beautiful clean beach. The garden was large and well kept. The cottage itself however does need some work doing to it. Booking the holiday through Nefyn Holidays was easy and efficient.
